So let’s talk about sin. More specifically let’s talk about original sin. The reason that we need to be baptized when we are just babes to wash away the sin we are born with. Perhaps I will discover when this happened as I read on, at the momen, I have questions. Adam and Eve did not have sin until they actually committed a mistake. No where does it say in this chapter anything abut children being born with sin.
Genesis 3: 4-5 “”You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”” Maybe this is where all of our problems lie. Adam and Eve weren’t give any way to protect themselves or knowledge to know what deceit is. Eating the of the tree of knowledge leads them and therefore the rest of the human race to another issue. Instead of teaching Adam and Eve how to use the knowledge they gained; God threw them out of what little protection they had. I get consequence, that just seems excessive. Adam and Eve are now left to figure out what exactly is good and evil. Perhaps still our downfall.
Genesis 3: 6-7 “When the woman saw that the frui of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. The the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.” Why does gaining knowledge equate to shame. The first thing they noticed was that they were naked and felt guilty for that. It’s not their fault they are naked. If God was to lead, why didn’t he teach them to dress? If God thought it was shameful to be naked, did he not think they were going to ask him why his body was covered?
Genesis 3: 15 “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and here’s; he will. Rush your head, and you will strike his heel.” So….this is interesting to me…how the symbols of Paganism are right here in Genesis and used as a from of pain. The snake is a very big symbol in Paganism. It was the very symbol of the Goddess and for those who worshipped the Goddess. The snake biting its tail is also a symbol called Ouroboros. It’s all cyclical. God uses this in a different way…still the same idea. Pain is continuous. Joy is continuous. The sperpent and the man will be in constant fight. The Patriarchy will be in constant fight with the Goddess.
Genesis 3: 22 “And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from he tree of life and eat, and live forever.” I know I asked this before; who is he talking too? Could it be other Gods/Goddesses? Does he eventually kick them out as well? He who does not want Humans to be equal to him. Maybe he didn’t want anyone equal to him. Now we get only one God. A jealous God.
